Prof. Dr. Horst Geckeis (2018 – 2020)

Horst Geckeis ist Professor für das Fach Radiochemie am Institut für Anorganische Chemie (AOC) des Karlsruher Instituts für Technologie (KIT) und leitet dort das Institut für Nukleare Entsorgung (INE). Die Forschung des Instituts umfasst verschiedene Themen der nuklearen Entsorgung: Langzeitverhalten radioaktiver Abfallformen, Geochemie langlebiger Spalt-, Aktivierungsprodukte und Actiniden, Rückbau kerntechnischer Anlagen und Strahlenschutzaspekte. Weiterhin werden Arbeiten zu grundlegenden Fragen der Chemie von Radionukliden durchgeführt (INE-Homepage: http://www.ine.kit.edu/).

Seit 2014 ist Horst Geckeis Mitglied der Entsorgungskommission (ESK) des Bundesministeriums für Umwelt und Reaktorsicherheit (BMUB) und Vorsitzender der Deutschen Arbeitsgemeinschaft Endlagerforschung (DAEF). Von 2010 bis 2014 war er Vorsitzender der Fachgruppe Nuklearchemie der Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCH).
